Mainstreaming DRR into Development Planning

There is a general recognition that development planning cannot ignore the importance of panning for disasters and that, when disaster strikes, resources meant for development are automatically channeled towards response efforts. The catch however is that for every $1 spent in preventing or preparing for potential disasters, $7 can be saved during the response phase. Governments are now moving towards the mainstreaming of DRR into development planning in order to be better prepared as well as to save. This course helps participants understand the dynamics involved but also helps them to design their planning to include DRR.
